[''Alright, alright. Regardless, if it's her…''''Granger, yes. She survived the curse, as you know…'' Antonin said slowly. ''That's all—''
''Don't kid yourself, Tony. It isn't 'all', and you know it.'' Thorfinn's demeanour shifted like a sudden slap across the face. ''You still went ahead and used old magic that wasn't meant to be touched when you knew it could possibly backfire. You created that curse and designed it with your will and your core. What did you think would happen?''
It wasn't so much that his friend's words were cutting into him without any pretence, it was the way he looked at him softly, almost sympathetically, that made him want to drop him against the floor. The explaining wasn't even necessary, and still, Thorfinn continued. ''By not killing her, it lodged itself into her. Like an anchor, it plunged and spread through her wound and when it found that its host was compatible—''
''Compatible?'' Antonin mocked.
Thorfinn ignored him. ''There are stories, legends from Norse traditions, that speak of certain…ties.'' Antonin's pupils expanded, his attention zeroed in on every sentence. ''We call them Fylgia—a spiritual companion. In some texts, they are represented by a pair of spirits who eventually become so woven together, they begin mirroring one another. As fate brings their destinies closer and closer, they become able to perceive each other's fylgjur in dreams or visions.''
Dreams? Antonin's leg began to shake up and down involuntarily. There was no way, no way that she—. ''In the cases of witches and wizards, it was believed their magic would merge, unable to remain apart.''
''Why is that?'' Antonin said impulsively.
''I couldn't tell you; only the Gods know.'' Thorfinn got up from his seat, heading straight to him and placed his hand on Antonin's shoulder. ''Brother, you never asked yourself why she had survived you?''
Of course he hadn't. He had spent the last three years avoiding the question entirely.
His friend squeezed his shoulder. ''If that's what is happening with you, the many accounts amongst our people suggest distance would destroy you both. You will deteriorate if you are kept apart.'' He paused, and it took Antonin everything to not lash out at his implications. ''It eats at your magic, in both ways. And because she is younger, the faster—''
''Enough.'' Antonin slapped his arm away.
Thorfinn wasn't done. He had one last warning, a series of parting words that would stay with him for a long time afterwards. ''The Gods aren't patient, Tony. Especially with men who know of their fates and still choose to look away.''
Antonin was shaking, actually seething in his seat. ''She's only twenty-one,'' he said in a hushed breath.
''I know,'' Thorfinn reached for the door without looking back. ''I'm not telling you what to do. I'm just telling you the state of things, as your friend, as your brother. I won't pretend I don't want to see you live. Your fylgjur isn't a sentence or an obligation, but ignoring it is.''
He left by apparating soundly, leaving Antonin to digest what information his friend just fed him. ]

[Ginny jumped when Bill squeezed her hand, "You're a good witch, you know.”She smiled, squeezing back, her face slightly sad, “So’s she. One lapse in jusdgement in a horrendous situation doesn't make her awful. It makes her human. She's not allowed to be that often.”
Bill's face creased into a frown. “What?”
Ginny shrugged. “She was always held to a higher standard than the boys. She wasn't allowed to get upset or make a mistake, or they punished her for it. She feels guilty enough about this without me adding to it over a boy I don't think I even want. That doesn't make me a good person, Bill, it just makes me not a complete arsehole.”
He snorted, “You are a good person. But I’ll concede your point. However, you have to know if at any point you're not ok, I reserve the right as your oldest brother to deal with that in any manner I see fit.”
“No,” she replied softly. “Shes about to be torn to shreds for daring to be human, Bill. I wont have her face it from the only family she has left too.”
He looked faintly shamefaced, letting out a sigh. “Fine. Be mature and grown-up.”
She smiled smugly, her head dropping to his shoulder, letting the conversation wash over her, realising with some surprise that she hadn't uttered a lie. She was surprised, but not devastated; a small tendril of excitement curled through her at the thought of this new tiny human that she could borrow but ultimately hand back. Visions of flying lessons and sleepy cuddles, being the favourite cool auntie, swirling through her mind, making her smile. Catching it, her brothers let out almost simultaneous sighs of relief.]

[He watched as the girl spoke to Draco, her eyes bright and filled with excitement. Draco was watching with a similar expression of excitement. It was so similar to his own years ago; he and Lilly were waiting to be sorted, hoping to join the same house. Now he watched Draco look at the girl with frizzy hair with the wonder of the first time an eleven-year-old boy noticed a girl.
He knew their illusion would soon be shattered as soon as Draco discovered the girls' Muggle-born status. He had been at Malfoy Manor when Lucius had spoken to Draco about Hogwarts,
"You will meet all kinds of people, Draco, but I will warn you. Keep away from the mudbloods; they will corrupt you, steal your magic. You come from a pure family, Draco, a pure, unbroken line of magic, and much is expected of you."]["I was attacked by a beast!"
"I think Hagrid calls him Fluffy."
Minerva and Pomona snorted as he rolled his eyes, "That is not the point, Albus! Your precious Potter was almost taken out by a troll."
He was trying harder to control the rage he felt, the rage when he saw Potter not only with Weasley but with the Granger girl as well. She had been keeping to herself since the beginning of the term, her peers seething with jealousy, the older students annoyed by her knowledge, and Draco had avoided her, knowing that his association with her could be trouble for him. A loner, as he had been.
She had been in the lavatory when the troll had gone in, and Potter and Weasley rushed to save her.
It was all more stressful than it should have been, yet Albus had insisted on keeping the stone in the castle.] -

Summary

Sirius Black has been watching Hermione ever since she finished her masteries. The woman who Harry considered his sister in all things, had become a beautiful woman. Her intelligent, witty, kind and caring personality made her irrisistable to him. He'd always been considered a ladies man, but he knew if he wanted to pursue her he had to put those days behind him. So when she declared to the table at Ron Weasley's wedding that she had no plans to date anyone and focus on her career, he felt like she had issued him a personal challenge.
He asked her out on a date, but she refused, telling him to try again.
So he did, every time he saw her, it had almost become a game to them, a playful way they flirted. But she always said no, until he was beginning to give up hope, that there was a reason she kept denying him, she said yes.
He couldn't wait to show her he was serious about her.
