    Summary

Celegorm threw his hands up, heedless of the jolt of pain all through his side. “They’ll imprint on thee! Thou’st caught them too late; they’ll be neither wild nor tame — I’d not let thee do it to a fox and I’ll not let thee do it with them. It’s against all laws of nature; what art thou thinking —

“So!” Maedhros interrupted, temper finally showing in his face and his voice. “Raise them thyself, since thou know’st so much of the matter.”

“Maybe I will,” Celegorm snapped back, and then the sound of his own words caught up with him and he balked, wrongfooted.

The Sack of Doriath ended with the flight of Elwing, the loss of a Silmaril, the deaths of Dior and Nimloth and Caranthir and Curufin — and the fostering of Dior’s young sons in a Fëanorian hunting-camp, to the satisfaction of absolutely no one at all.

    Summary

"I am – I am not saying, don't put words in my mouth -" Kanafinwë Makalaurë wagged his finger at his cousin Findaráto Ingoldo, perched bright-eyed beside him on the edge of the stream - "that it is bad. You know full well that I believe there is no such thing as empirically bad music." They were kicking their feet in the moonlight water, watching the light dance in the fast-flowing spray, and they were both extremely drunk.

When Tolkien imagined Middle-earth as an ancient Europe, I don't think he meant for me to map nearly a thousand years of European music history, both secular and liturgical, onto Tirion's academic community. (Take comfort, Professor, in the implication that they are all now Catholic.)

    Summary

In the end, it had been Gandalf’s decision to allow the second king of the Noldor, returned suddenly from death itself like a fire-eyed messenger of doom, to join their company. Aragorn had at first been in favor of sending him back to Rivendell for Elrond to deal with, but Gandalf had said that for him to be sent back to the land of the living at all was indication enough that he had a part to play in their quest, and Gandalf had had the final say.

Fëanor joins the Fellowship. It goes about as well as you'd expect.

Obi-Wan would like to be supportive of his men's artistic endeavors.

This would be easier if those endeavors were slightly less treasonous.
