Summary
Peter Strahm makes the life-ending mistake of throwing Mark Hoffman into the glass box and locking him inside. But before the walls can finish closing in on him, Strahm wakes up in the same spot, thrown back through time, twelve years in the past. When he meets the younger version of the man who will one day try to kill him, Strahm realises he has the chance to rewrite history and prevent Hoffman from ever going down the Jigsaw path and save himself in the process.

Hoffman’s Grindr chimes again. He pulls the phone from his pocket and deliberately checks the message in front of Strahm, eyebrows furrowing as he reads it. Strahm screws up his fists in anger, steam practically escaping from his ears.
“Oh look,” Hoffman says, deadpan. “He’s sent me a photo of what I’ll be swallowing later.”

Summary
Hoffman was weird. He was more than weird.
Strahm knew he was weird and he was going to get off his ass and prove it.
The knife he’d been jimmying around the edges of Hoffman’s apartment window jiggled a few more times and Peter prayed that it wouldn’t snap, he’d broken his last good knife not by attempting to break and enter another police officer’s place but by trying to pry a stone out of the sole of his shoe. The tip had broken clean off and the stone had remained lodged firmly in the rivets of the rubber.
It hadn’t been the worst thing to happen that day though. That would have been the biro pen sticking out the front of Strahm’s trachea.
