During Jack's absence between Series 1 and 2, the Torchwood team find a mechanical Weevil who was converted by a virus. The world is soon overrun by the virus, and the only hope lies in an organism implanted in Ianto by Torchwood One designed as an archive. The fic has two endings, one in which they fail and Ianto is left with nothing but the animatronic shells of his friends, and another where they're successful in reversing the virus.

Wants to know if he can be fixed. Wants to know how much he must take on before it is enough. He has taken on so much, stuck here on this planet, tethered to this place by questions, emotional blackmail, debts, an ever-growing hollow, the need to find some way to fix this, whatever this is.
Stand in the darkness of the hub, staring at your own reflection in the window of the office. Look into your own face. Say, You cannot fix everyone, you cannot save everyone, and it tears you apart inside. Say, You have a hole in your chest to prove it. (And then there's Ianto, factotum, quiet and stalwart, asking no questions but offering his hands.)

Coe fix-it in which Ianto is spat out by the Rift five years after “The House of the Dead”, apparently rendering him immortal in the process. Fic focuses on him getting to know Gwen’s new team, and reuniting with Jack. Jack initially tries pushing him away as he can’t bear to face the grief of losing him three times, but eventually changes his mind.

Set after The Year That Never Was.
Jack returns to find that Ianto has been altered, mainly due to his TYTNW counterpart reactivating an evil Tardis and turning into sentient Vortex energy as a result. This eventually results in Ianto gaining a form of immortality, the Master resurrected and rid of his drums, and him and the Doctor together. Also, Jack, Ianto, the Master and the Doctor face their traumas, including the Doctor finding Jack to be wrong and Ianto feeling underappreciated.
