“Well…” Ren starts, even though no more than half an hour ago he punched Akechi in the face, “I… have Phantom Thief money.”
It feels lame in his mouth and so he stops himself there, even though this does not convey nearly the amount of information it needs to. This is backed up when Akechi just stares at him blankly.
“… Which is not Detective Prince money,” He continues, “But… might buy something better than a… questionably clean hotel.”
Akechi snarls a laugh. “I don’t need your handouts.”
“I mean—” Ren rushes, and it’s so pathetic how his protective anger has abandoned him to his vulnerable desperation, “It’s not a handout if I’m there too.”
Akechi blinks at him, then plants his face in his hands. “Oh dear God no.”
Ren looks up in time to see Akechi outside the train window before he departs from Tokyo. After missing his train to catch up with him, and with Akechi having nowhere to go in light of his miraculous resurrection, it's only logical and ergonomic they share a hotel room for a night. Or two.

Summary
In a universe before shit hit the fan, a mysterious meteorite crashed outside of Midgar. General Sephiroth and his commanders, First Classes Angeal and Genesis, were sent to help the researchers retrieve samples to study this phenomenon. Only to discover not everything was what it seemed.
In other words, an Advent Children era Cloud was roaming the stars to crash land on different versions of Gaia to pass judgment. Whether he destroys the planet, let's it go and continues on. However, something happened this time that bound Cloud and Sephiroth together. What ever can go wrong?

By special order, he is relocated to the capital city of Snezhnaya for an exclusive month-long training program with a famous Inazuman swordswoman. He meets a new recruit by the name of Zhongli, who not only matches Ajax's skill in combat, but also seems to be harboring some type of secret regarding his identity and his intentions in joining the Fatui. The two of them grow closer over the course of their training. As their graduation date grows near, so too does the unraveling of a narrative that reaches far beyond what Ajax ever could have imagined.
