Leon was well acquainted with nightmares. He could handle those. What he couldn't handle were the dreams. Nightmares were predictable; dreams were not.
Missions like the one he was dragged on mid-vacation to fight Arias triggered both in Leon during the long nights after. He had been through this enough times that he should've been prepared to weather the storm.
Chris Redfield threw a wrench in those plans, inviting him over like the world hadn't almost just ended. Again.
Leon could roll with the punches. He'd pretend he slept through the night with no problem. He'd look calm, cool, and collected. Chris would see that Leon was totally fine and didn't need any support. If Leon said that enough times to himself like a prayer, then maybe it would come true.
