Summary
A month after they were miraculously able to defeat Max, turning Michael in the process, the boys were now free. After a couple weeks of relishing in the parties, sex, and drugs that defined summer in Santa Carla, tension and bad vibes were growing in the cave. The increasingly noticeable absence of David and their newest pack member was causing things to get rough between Marko, Paul, and Dwayne, and it only seemed to be getting worse as the three of them had no clue how to fix things themselves. Now, either they get off their asses and do something, or they wallow in pity until David and Michael come back. The choice was pretty damn clear.

Summary
Grandpa was dead.
It happened a week after the vampires had been killed. Max had been stopped. Star and Laddie were long gone, off on their next big adventure together. Grandpa had gotten the house fixed, thanks to some very talented neighbors that owed him favors. Sam and the Frogs felt vindicated about erasing the vampire threat, and were attached at the hip when possible. Lucy didn’t mention said vampire threat. Michael had gotten a job at the clothing store on the Boardwalk. Everything was great. Normal, even.
Until grandpa died.
And now their lives were back in boxes. Packed away and ready for the move back to Phoenix, Arizona. Back to what started this whole mess in the first place.

“Michael,” says a warm, lilting voice. David, Lucy’s pretty sure. “Are you busy?” David asks. His tone suggests that nothing Michael could be doing is more important than whatever it is David is about to ask him to do. There’s a cool confidence about that boy that Lucy can’t bring herself to like. The way it rests in his eyes — it reminds her of her ex-husband on bad days, the way he’d look at her when they’d get in screaming matches and she’d swear she was going to take the boys and leave him that very night. His eyes had gleamed with assurance, secure in the knowledge that Lucy would still be there the next morning, making breakfast for all of them.
_______________________________Or, five times Lucy mistakes the nature of Michael and David’s relationship and one time she understands.
