Summary
Erik used his body as a tool in all ways, but it had always been as a means for destruction. He did not know how to be soft or tender, and had never had use for gentleness before.
Until Charles.
(AKA Erik is too afraid of hurting Charles to let him try anything, but Charles persists, as he does.)

Summary
Charles had braced himself for the pain. He knew that when Erik would push the coin through Shaw's head that he would inadvertently push it into his. He knew that he would feel the slow, torturous drag of metal through his skin, his brain tissue, his mind. He had even prepared for the heartbreak and the betrayal, because once Erik had put on Shaw's helmet, Charles's heart had already shattered to pieces.
But when Charles's mind was fractured by the coin, he hadn't been prepared to lose a part of himself he could not bear to live without.
Because without a mind he had no telepathy, and without telepathy, Charles was...
Human.
Or: Charles loses his telepathy after Cuba, and all the pain that follows.

"Your daddy’s Number one Hero Endeavor, am I right?"
"I have no involvement with him. I am my own hero, and I changed my name," Dabi says, voice cold, eyes adamant. "And you know all of this already. Why does it even matter?"
"Oh, but it does matter, to me" Hawks murmurs with a cryptic smile, voice as smooth as silk, golden eyes sparkling with insanity.
Dabi cocks an eyebrow, doesn’t ask further. He feels like he doesn’t want to know after all, not when Hawks is looking at him like he’s candy - like he wants to get close and touch him but also kill him at the same time. It just seems that, at least for now, the villain has more curiosity than hate in his regards. Dabi despises the implications.
If he has to play cat and mouse, he certainly wants to remain the cat.
Yet, Hawks looks nothing like a mouse.

Summary
For someone he'd hero-worshipped for so long, Steve Rogers in the flesh is a pretty big disappointment. For one thing, he keeps looking at Tony as though he reminds him of someone else, and even if he never says anything, Tony's pretty sure it's his father. A lifetime of not measuring up to Howard's expectations is more than enough, thank you very much, and he's certainly not going to make an effort to live up to any of Steve's. Steve's pretty clearly failed to live up to his expectations, in any case, and that's not hypocritical at all.

But as much as Sam probably needs to deal with that feeling, that jealous guard dog feeling inside of him that says my new friend, mine, stay back when other people get close to Bucky, he's happy to experience the other side of it, the small satisfied rush he gets when Bucky's sprawled out in his family home, or mowing the lawn, or fixing the sink so it stops dripping, comfortable in a short sleeve shirt even around the kids. Like Bucky belongs here, with them. With Sam, in the new life he's building.

Sam's touch is electric as his hand goes to cover Bucky's on the worn porch rail. Bucky turns his hand so their palms meet, fingers lacing together. "Because you have wings, Sam." he says, holding on to him for dear life. "And being near you makes me remember I have them too, even if they've been folded away for so long."

Sambucky AU ~
Set in Queens in 2016, Rogers & Sons Freight & Supply is a busy industrial depot where the daytime and overnight crews live in almost completely separate worlds. Steve Rogers, the owner’s son, works alongside Sam Wilson while Natasha Romanoff and Wanda Maximoff manage the administrative side of the business.
Everything changes when James “Bucky” Barnes, a 35-year-old ex-convict recently released after six years in prison, is hired for the overnight shift as part of a state re-entry program. With strict probation conditions and a criminal record that makes people wary of him, Bucky keeps to himself and is determined to cause no trouble.
When Sam unexpectedly encounters Bucky during a late-night shift, he quickly realizes that the quiet, intimidating man from the mugshot is far more exhausted and vulnerable than dangerous. A small act of kindness begins to break through Bucky’s guarded nature, while Steve watches from a distance, quietly sketching the first meeting between two people whose lives are about to become intertwined.

Summary
“You’re gonna have to come in eventually,” says Sam, then he takes a deep breath and steps away from Barnes, back towards the club. “But it doesn’t have to be now.” Barnes’ eyes widen, and he goes utterly still. “I’ve got some conditions though, if I’m gonna let you go.”
A year after the helicarriers go down, Sam finds not the Winter Soldier, but Bucky Barnes, who's trying his best to live and not just survive while on the run. Sam finds him and keeps finding him, and eventually, Sam finds himself too.
An alternate take on canon where Sam and Bucky have been secretly meeting up since after CATWS.

Summary
“I don’t have a problem!” Sam insists. “Bucky is not a problem. Bucky is on a beautiful journey of self-care and healing and making amends with his body, and I support him 100%.”
“Mmhmm,” says Sarah, and when Sam can tear his gaze away from Bucky, he sees that she’s fixing him with a sweetly compassionate gaze. He readies himself for some no-nonsense sisterly wisdom. In tones of deep sympathy, she says, “And you’re horny about it.”
Sam grits his teeth and grips the arms of his lounge chair. “I’m so horny about it, oh my god.”
Bucky is finally ready to make amends with himself, and specifically his body, but he might need to enlist some help. If that help involves kind of, sort of tricking an overworked Sam into doing some self-care and having some fun of his own, so much the better. Sam, meanwhile, is happy to help, it's just that helping Bucky is turning out to have the inconvenient side effect of falling for him too.
