Summary
Jude is the Crown Prince of Thesal. He meets Erling when they are eight and eleven in a forest near the castle. Over the years, their friendship flourishes. As Jude's feelings mature, navigating their relationship becomes more difficult. It doesn't help that as he turns into an adult, Jude is facing royal expectations and a new threat to the kingdom.

Summary
Jude wakes in a forest clearing. His clearing. He blinks away the sleep from his eyes. The tremors from his dream slowly lift from his shoulders. He almost turns and stretches to bask in the glow of the midday sun when he hears a scratching against wood behind him. Not wild and imprecise like an animal, a calculated movement. Not the horns of a beast or talons of a bird, but a knife.
Hunched over on a rock nearby at the base of the stream is the largest man Jude has ever seen. His clean grey-blue tunic is strained across his broad shoulders. Blonde hair falls over his back, two braids pulled back by a leather tie. He’s nothing like anyone Jude has ever seen before.
