Summary
Roy Kent agrees to one final match, one short speech and absolutely no emotional bullshit.
Then Jamie Tartt arrives at Stamford Bridge carrying the Chelsea shirt Roy thought he had lost twenty years ago, along with rather too much knowledge about the man Roy used to be.
Roy can handle fifteen minutes of football, forty thousand people chanting his name and an entire stadium discussing his legacy. Jamie looking at him like he still matters is a different fucking problem.
or Roy Kent has spent years teaching Jamie Tartt how to become a better footballer. Unfortunately, Jamie has spent even longer being in love with him.

“Oh.” Jamie’s voice is soft, suddenly. Small, in a way that has alarm bells going off like air raid sirens in Roy’s head. “Yeah. Um.”

During Roy’s first year as a manager some lighthearted ribbing in the dressing room lead to the resurfacing of unhappy memories and revelations of past abuse.
Post-canon h/c feat. Roy & Jamie & their messy past & supportive future.

An Isaac McAdoo kicked ball to the arse leads Jamie to a night he's been waiting for since he was old enough to realise that it wasn't just Roy Kent's skill on a pitch that kept him glued to every Chelsea match shown for over a decade.

“I need to talk to you,” Roy’s voice comes strong down the line, cutting him off.
“Well, that’s why Alexander Graham Bell invented these things. Hit me with it. Or softly pat me with it, whichever suits.”
“Right,” Roy says. “Just fucking- wait, will you?”Ted waits. He doesn't mind a little time whilst Roy gets his thoughts in order or grinds his gears through whatever he wants to say.
"I'm- I need to- talk to you. About Jamie."
Three conversations Ted has after leaving Richmond.

Summary
Jamie’s phone lights up with yet another call from “Dad” in the middle of gym time with the lads, which ought to be a fucking criminal penalty.
(Jamie's dad's friends pay him a visit. Roy and Keeley are there in the aftermath, whether Jamie understands why or not.)

His hands are curling and uncurling at his sides. His lungs are tight in his chest, not quite enough air making its way in. And the lights are too bright, and the voices of his drunk teammates are too loud, and he needs to get the fuck out before-
Or, Jamie has a meltdown at a party.

4 times Roy learns that Jamie is a father and one time the whole team does.
------
Jamie Tartt is sitting in one of the little plastic chairs put out for the kids on the rug that's made to look like a map. He looks comically large among the kid sized area.
Phoebe is still holding Roy's hand and all Roy can think is: no fucking way Jamie Tartt sees the same dam pediatrician as his seven year old niece.
But then a little boy comes around the corner after Jamie has met Roy's gaze and something imperceptible crosses his face.
"Daddy! They have a bear book! Like at home." The kid, must have been five or so, tumbles right into Jamie fucking Tartt.

Summary
Jamie knocks on Georgie and Simon’s door and steps back, hands in his pockets, shoulders hunched. It’s the middle of the afternoon and the feral boys of the estate are off somewhere else causing trouble. He wishes he could go back to when he was one of them—things were still hard but in ways that made sense, not so fucking complicated.

When Roy becomes manager of Richmond, he can't ignore how he feels about Jamie any longer. Jamie doesn't want to jeopardise Roy's career, so he turns him down. Roy doesn't take it well.

Summary
Depression.
A pamphlet at Phoebe’s GP called it Blue Zone Feelings. It was full of helpful diagrams and feeling words meant to help kids explain how they felt to themselves and their grown-ups. Roy had grabbed one years ago, after the whole thing with Man City, when he felt like shit for not knowing how to fix things without having to bring in Keeley.
Jokes on him, of course, because he still doesn’t have the slightest clue what to do.
[Or: Admitting you love someone doesn't fix all your problems. Or theirs.]

Jamie just got back from Amsterdam, and he's alone in bed. He remembers some things, and doesn't remember others. He unravels just a bit, but can't be sure why. He's twenty-five, and he's fourteen.

Everyone is talking, and none of it's making any sense, at least until the door announces itself again with another horrible creak crash and someone is being all rumbly somewhere up and to the right and oh, yeah, mint, everything's going to be fine actually. Roy is here.

Summary
Dani is his replacement, and Dani is good, even if Jamie will never fucking admit that out loud as long as he lives, and Dani cheers loud for his teammates when they score, leaps on their backs and races around the pitch chanting his own name. Fucking chipper dickhead. He scores off a pass from Sam and the others flock around him, cheering, hands all reaching out to ruffle his hair and wrap at his shoulders. Even fucking Roy, who scowls at Jamie like it’s his fault he’s fucking ancient and broken down every time he so much as touches the ball. But Dani scores and Roy says, “Well fucking done, Rojas!” And then he lifts his head and he meets Jamie’s eyes, stood alone across the pitch with ice in his stomach.
Or: in which Dani's knee injury heals a bit earlier than it does in canon, and Jamie does not handle it well.
