His hand smooths over Buck’s side, both for comfort, and as an anticipatory apology. He buries his face in the crook of Buck’s neck, breathing him in, and he feels the flex of Buck’s bicep under him as Buck pulls him flush against him.
“Hey, Eddie?”
“Mh,” Eddie answers, his hand stuttering over Buck’s ribs. If Buck notices, he doesn’t react to it.
“If you want to—I don’t mind you touching me. Ever. Even when I’m asleep.”
“Okay.”
“I mean it. You can do whatever you want.”
There's something Eddie wants, and Buck tries his best to get him to ask for it.

He’d keep busy—physically exhausted, mentally occupied, emotionally detached. That was the key. No attachments. No friendships. No relationships. No vulnerability. He’d learned the hard way that getting close to people only ended in pain. Either they died, betrayed him, or saw the legend behind the name and stopped seeing him altogether.
Unfortunately, he hadn’t planned on the 118.
