“Dakota, William, this is Vyncent! He’ll be your other roommate.”
Virion slowly nodded at them, not once letting his eyes leave the duo. The red-haired boy rushed up to him in a blur and grabbed Virion’s hand before it could dart for his knife, shaking it sharply up and down. “Hi! I’m Dakota. How long have you been here?”

Summary
“If you join the team, you’ll have to go to school in the fall,” Tide had explained. “And you’ll have to make sure that no one there knows that you are a Prime Defender.”
But then he continued.
“And… Well, part of making sure no one figures that out is fitting in. Your headphones will help hide your ears, but… a name like Virion is going to stick out.”

Summary
Tide smiled- wide and full-hearted, like Ram when he saw Virion after being gone for a while- and nodded back at him, though not deeply enough for a proper greeting. “It’s nice to meet you, Virion. Like Lightspeed said, I’m Tide.”
He held out a hand, his palm facing toward the wall, and Virion took a moment staring at it before remembering something else Ms. G. had said in the same lesson about ‘handshakes’. Virion took a chance based on the name and just grabbed the man’s hand to shake it side-to-side a few times. Tide’s grin grew larger and he laughed as Virion drew his hand back. It didn’t seem mocking or rude, but Virion still didn’t understand enough about Prime social rules to be sure.
Tide let his laughter subside to chuckles before he spoke again. “So, how have you been adjusting to Prime? I was told you’ve been here for a few months?”

Summary
“Hello, Virion!” Hexpert was the first to speak, her smile wide as she waved at him in return. She mispronounced his name, though not quite as badly as everyone back on the rooftop had. Silhouette was silent at her side. “How are you adjusting to Prime? Is there anything you need?”
“I do not need more.” Virion’s speech was slow as he struggled to piece together the right words. He didn’t know what ‘adjusting’ meant, but the last sentence at least gave him something to respond to. Apparently, his response answered both questions, as Hexpert nodded happily.
“I’m glad! Harlem and I just wanted to check in and see how things are going for you. Getting used to a whole new world can’t be easy.”

But, most striking of all, were his long, pointed ears.
“You’re a sun elf!” Virion didn’t realize he’d spoken until he was shooting off of the floor, ignoring the headrush as he stumbled over to the first of his kind he’d seen in… gods, he didn’t even know how long he’d been gone.
“And you’re a half elf!” the man cheerfully responded, taking Virion’s shoulders in his hands. He tilted Virion’s head this way and that, brushing aside his hair to squint at his ears. "Did I get that right?"

Summary
God. His head hurts like a bitch. He’s had a migraine for two straight days. He grimaces through the pain and throws some questions into his head, hoping for answers.
Can we leave Galloway?
Yes.
Will anything stop us when we get to the border?
No.
The answers make him feel better by only a miniscule amount. He doesn’t trust this… weird sixth sense he’s acquired. Kian said it was some kind of “power,” like the heroes running around in their underpants on TV that have been crawling out of woodwork since the seventies, but that’s bullshit. It’s all bullshit, because those heroes are probably getting their powers from like—government made chemical potions or some shit.
He asks one more question, glancing back at Rolan, Kian, and Becky in his truck.
Can I trust them?
Yes, comes the undeniable, steadfast answer.

Summary
Before she can doubt herself, Edyn is pushing her arms above the ocean's seal for the very first time, gripping onto docks of cool stone. The Oversea air is warm, assailing on every inch of skin, and it only worsens as she flops over onto the dock. Just the barest tip of her tail is still submerged.
Gillion’s careful, curious eyes peek out through the water. He watches as Edyn takes her very first breath, lungs contracting and expanding. It's... an indescribable feeling. Horrifically strange, and yet too natural to deny. She takes one breath in, then another. And another. Just practicing with the expansion of her lungs. Before she can question it, Gillion has risen to join her on the cold stone. Above water.
"I don't — " Gillion coughs.
"You're doing it! You — we're doing it!"
When she is seventeen, Edyn Tidestrider steals her brother away from the Elders and flees.

For once, Percy’s life isn’t a Greek tragedy because of his godly relatives. No, this time it was aliens.
In a world where superheroes and demigods coexist, the gods are not as all-knowing as they might think and demigods and mortals alike must rise to the challenges of a new, more dangerous world.
