“You are not dressed yet?” Ilya asks softly. “Is this because you needed to find the most stylish pair of socks?”
“Fuck!” Shane yelps, jumping. “Jesus, I need to put a bell on you. Stop sneaking up on me.”
“Ah, I was not sneaking. You were just doing a serious thing. After all, socks can make or break an outfit.”
“Ha. Ha. Sure,” Shane closes the drawer and starts to turn around to look at Ilya. “Next, you’ll be telling me that my underwear are–”
He stops midsentence, mouth hanging open as he finally gets an eyeful of his husband. And what an eyeful it is, because holy mackinaw. Shane’s jaw audibly clicks closed as he swallows, mouth suddenly dry. Is it hot in here? His palms feel sweaty and his face is flushed.
Because Ilya is sitting on the end of the bed in an outfit that seems hazardous to Shane’s mental health.
OR Shane and Ilya attend a movie premiere. Shane might be distracted by Ilya's outfit. Just a little.

Summary
Shane wakes up the morning of his birthday with a nagging feeling of suspicion at the back of his mind.
He stretches, yawning and blinking against the soft morning sun that filters through the bedroom windows, the warmth of it making the bed even more comfortable and cozy. Shane doesn’t mind the sunlight. He smiles, thinking of how Ilya never lets him shut the blinds or pull the curtains closed when they’re at the cottage alone.
But when he flips over to his back and reaches out to find his husband’s side of the bed empty, that feeling of wariness comes back. He frowns.

That thought flutters across Henry’s brain as the boy nears, his hand outstretched. “Hi, I’m Alexander Claremont-Diaz,” he introduces himself, voice warm and friendly. He’s smiling broadly, a flash of white teeth and dimples. “But most people call me Alex.”
“Mr. Claremont-Diaz,” Henry manages a nod and a stiff handshake. He flexes his hand the moment the handshake is over, fighting the urge to reach back out. His hand tingles and he shoves it into his pocket. Henry can’t seem to look away from Alex’s face, so he sees the way the smile falls and hears the disappointed punch of breath that escapes Alex’s mouth.
Henry can’t find any words, struck speechless and a little numb. He’s being rude. He’s staring, he knows that he is. Alex is standing there, waiting for Henry to say something, anything at all, but the only words that want to cross his lips are not the kind that you say out loud in the first five minutes of meeting someone.
