Summary
Camelot is a far-off dream, a place which was made for men. They travel through the forest, hunting.
Merlin lays with the deer and they with him, and he cannot bear their suffering the way he once cared about the suffering of men, so he splinters arrows before they pierce flesh and leaves the rotting bodies of unlucky creatures on the hot stones that circle the men’s fires.
If they cannot be taught their place in the forest, then they will leave it at least unsettled.
Men fear decay and death.
Merlin fears neither anymore.
(Arthur banishes Merlin from Camelot, so Merlin goes to the forest and slowly loses himself to its magic. By the time Arthur learns what he's lost, it's too late to bring Merlin back by his own will.)

“So that’s a ‘no’ on the Great Beard Experiment of 850?”(Arthur awakens in the modern era to bring back a Golden Age. He makes himself a media darling and realizes, after everything that can go wrong with that does, that he needs to find Merlin, since Merlin doesn't seem interested in finding him first. He tracks Merlin down, only to learn Merlin was in a car accident and is permanently disabled.)

Summary
“I know it sounds ridiculous,” Arthur says. “But I can’t stop thinking about him, Guinevere. It’s like I can feel him. His heart right here.”
He lays his palm over his chest and holds it there. On an impulse, Gwen joins him. Arthur lets his hand fall so that hers can spread out over the thin layer of linen over his skin, and that’s when she feels it.
Arthur’s heart beats in the usual rhythm, but there is a flutter there, too.
No, not just a flutter, a full beat between the others and behind it.
Arthur lifts his face to hers, and Gwen has never been more thankful that he cannot see the horror spreading rapidly across her own.
(To prevent Arthur's death at the Battle of Camlann, Merlin makes a magical exchange - he gives Arthur his heart in exchange for Arthur's sight. Arthur makes it home, but Merlin doesn't, so Gwen sets out to find him and bring him home, only to discover that Merlin isn't exactly the person she thought him to be.)

“Arthur, listen to me,” Merlin says suddenly in a tone so gentle that Arthur forgets what he was about to say right then and there.
“I’m—I’m listening,” he says.
Merlin lifts his head from his nest of arms and passes a thumb over the scab forming in the very center of his lower lip.
“I fucking hate you,” he says.
(Arthur accidentally reveals Merlin's magic to the world, then accidentally bonds them together before he's king, thereby throwing their prophecy way off course. He tries to make it up to Merlin by making a place for him in Camelot, but that proves to be far more complicated than he can manage on his own. Meanwhile, Merlin finds a smartphone in a wishing well and tries to electrocute a paramedic.)

When Arthur comes home, he falls in love with his father’s strange ward and in doing so unwittingly ignites a war.)

“No,” Emrys says again, this time to Arthur’s face.(Splintered Merlin AU. In a fit of terror, Arthur kills Merlin and regrets everything immediately. Two years later, he gets a chance to make things right when a man calling himself Emrys wanders back into his closest circle. Arthur thinks that he can make Merlin come back to him if only he treats this Emrys the way he should have treated Merlin. Emrys, meanwhile, isn't interested in alleviating Arthur's guilt. He wants to play out his own fairytale; the problem is that there's a dragon in the way.)

That tone sent shivers unrelated to the water down Din’s spine. The urge to lash out filled his lungs, but he pushed back on it.
“You two have history,” he said as evenly as he could.
He turned and found the Jedi’s face completely void of emotion. His eyelashes were darker, though. Din could see them clearly even from across the river.
“Do not bring him here,” the Jedi said.
