Summary
The first time, Eddie doesn't even notice he's doing it.
Buck is standing in Eddie's kitchen in a pink cardigan, which is notable enough on its own. It's soft-looking in a way that is almost aggressive, the kind of fabric that seems to be asking something of everyone in the room. Eddie had clocked it when Buck came in and then made himself stop thinking about it, the way you make yourself stop thinking about something you want.
They're at the kitchen table. Buck is leaning over Eddie's shoulder to look at something on his phone, a meme about firefighters that Chris had sent, the caption genuinely very stupid, and when Buck laughs, the sound so close it nearly clips Eddie's ear, Eddie reaches sideways without thinking and catches Buck's sleeve between two fingers.
The cardigan is exactly as soft as it looked.
He rolls the fabric slightly. The knit has a little give. He keeps rolling.
Buck goes very still.
