“I know you need a voice, so do it, and I’ll be right here. I’ll be right here.”

Even without seeing him, even just through the phone like this, hearing nothing more than Derek’s erratic breathing and frantic movements while he tried to find his keys, even now after all this time, Stiles still knew him.

    Stiles still heard him.

“I apologize.” The cop finally looked back up at his face, seeming thrilled. “It’s just—it’s been so long. And we finally have you.”

That was a bad word. Not found.

    Have.

Stiles wrenched his hand free and took a step back, but before he could even think up a gameplan, he felt a prick in his neck and jerked away, reaching up to slap one hand against it and twisting in the same moment.

One of the others had come up behind him while he hadn’t been paying attention, and his vision began to swim even as his eyes caught sight of the half-empty syringe the guy was holding.

    Summary

“Wait, does he do this all the time?” Scott asked, sounding flabbergasted and, in Jackson’s opinion, suitably impressed. “What, is he your sugar daddy or something?”

The way Stiles glanced at Jackson then probably looked coy to Scott. It probably looked coquettish, even deferential, like Jackson was the one with the power, but that impression couldn’t have been more misleading. That half-lidded gaze pinned Jackson to his seat and made him squirm, made him want to bare his neck, offer up everything he had, and beg for whatever Stiles wanted to give him in return.

Stiles sipped at his drink—the drink Jackson had paid for—again and slowly, teasingly, licked the foam from his top lip.

“You could say that,” he said, a hint of a laugh in his tone.

Scott could say that, but he wouldn’t be entirely right. Though, to be fair, he wouldn’t be entirely wrong either.

Little Miss Elizabeth Jacqueline Whittemore might just be the perfect child. Teaching kindergarten is not easy, especially with Scott complaining about his (very) pretty-boy jerk of a coworker at every opportunity, but with a student like Miss Jackie, Stiles can probably make it through.

    Summary

    "You think Derek's Scott's dealer?"

"Yeah," Jackson scoffs. "It's the only thing that makes sense— and even then. I know Scott's hiding something, Stiles, he's—he's cheating somehow."

"Okay," Stiles says, easy, with that glittering honey-soothe he always used to coat his voice in, when Jackson needed that, and the other boy's shoulders ease, some. "And if you figure out what he's hiding, Jax? What're you going to do then?"

"I'm going to do it, too," Jackson mumbles fiercely. "I'm going to do it better."

"Really? That's your solution? Someone else on the team gives you actual competition, maybe beats you a little, scores more points than you, you figure they must be doing drugs to accomplish this, and your first thought is: Oh, I should get on that incredibly unhealthy train, because that's a good idea."

Jackson turns toward him, mutinous and mulish, backs him up against the lockers, seething, "And what do you want me to do? Go to a therapist and, what, get fixed? There's nothing wrong with me, it's your friend who's using, I just want to level the playing field."
