Paul froze dead in the doorway.
For two long seconds, Paul stared, his jaw slack. Then a wide, wicked, ear-to-ear grin tore across his face. He threw his head back and let out a shrill, deafening cackle that echoed straight up into the rafters, slapping his leather-clad thigh with a loud *crack*.
"I fucking knew it!" Paul howled, pointing a shaking finger at the bed. "I called it! I fucking called it! DWAYNE! DWAYNE, GET YOUR ASS IN HERE! PAY UP, YOU PSYCHO!"

Waking up in David’s bed after a long, eventful night, Michael finds himself wrapped in blankets and David’s arms. David plucks it out of his fingers and studies it. Immediately, he wants to frame it and hang it above the bar. It’s the worst fake ID he’s ever seen, and he’s seen a lot of fakes.

Michael’s hips hurt, so did his knees, and his ankles. His wrists hurt too but that was a lot easier to ignore.
He was used to the pain by now, it happened often enough that he had to get used to it. It was easier now to hide how much it hurt when he stood too long. Michael was fairly certain that no one could tell how much pain he was in.
OR
Michael Emerson has dealt with chronic joint pain for a few years now, he hadn't told anyone out of fear of what they would think. But you can only hide something like that for so long.

The breath knocked out of him, hands letting go and feet shuffling backwards as the pain skyrocketed. He tripped over a piece of drift wood, spine hitting the ground with a dull thump and agony ripping through it.
He gasped, breath leaving in one big exhale before it stilled - lungs seizing in time with the muscles of his back. Wide eyes stared at the sky, barely aware of the stars looking down at him. Fingers dug into the sand, grasping at something in an attempt to ground himself.
Pain, hot and sharp washed through his spine and down his hips. It pulsed in waves, stitched through the muscle holding his spine together and pulled until it went taut. His lungs wouldn't move, stiff as stone and yet he still tried to pull breaths in - short gasps never making sound.
There were hands on him, cold and gentle as they ran down his arms. His gaze remained glued onto the sky, unblinking as his body fought to get a hold of itself. There was a voice pulling at his consciousness, the sound of his name carried on the wind.
