Shawn woke up to Lassiter tapping his arm. He gasped, and looked up at him, wide eyed, before it faded to annoyance, though it was more with himself than with Lassiter. He looked around him. He was supposed to be on a stakeout with Gus, but of course, Gus ditched him for his latest girlfriend about two hours ago. So Shawn had been sitting alone in the Blueberry.
Clearly, he'd fallen asleep. With the doors unlocked, apparently, because Lassiter now sat in the driver's seat.
Wordlessly, Lassiter handed Shawn a Hershey bar. It was just a mini one. Shawn blinked, looking at him. “I appreciate the sugary gift, but why? And also what are you doing here?”

Before Shawn could even concoct a plan, Patrick Dixon had already turned out and shot again, and this time, Lassiter was hit, and let out a groan of pain, his hand immediately flying up to his shoulder. Immediately, as soon as he realized he'd hit, Patrick turned tail and he started to run. Shawn pulled out his phone belatedly, and sent a quick text to Jules without looking, letting her know what was going on, and where they were, so they could send someone.
The Dixon brothers could get away for now. There were plenty of people after them.
Right now, he was focused on Lassiter.
OR
Lassiter gets shot when they're in a remote place, and has to survive until morning. Shawn helps out.

As he coughed and hacked again, Shawn wrenched his eyes shut in pain. He spit the resulting blood into the sink, both hands bracing on either side of it.
He was positive something was horribly wrong. He had considered telling Gus when it started, but then the blood started coming up, and that was just too messy to tell anyone about. He knew something like that must mean he was dying, or dealing with a serious condition. And the looks of pity he'd get from people like Gus and Jules would just piss him off.
No, it would make itself clear on its own when fate decided he couldn't hide it anymore. But for now, every tickle in his throat had him finding an excuse to go somewhere private – usually the bathroom – and he was spitting blood in the sink.
OR
Shawn and Lassiter both get Hanahaki Disease for each other, and have to confess before it's too late.

“Spencer,” He muttered in hushed tones, looking down at the man, who had stopped doing all of his psychic nonsense to look up at Carlton. “Shut up, or I’m going to shut you up.”
Carlton continued to glare down at Spencer for just a moment longer, his simmering anger radiating off of him. His eyes darted down to Spencer’s lips for just a second (for some reason) before looking back up, not before noticing the way that Spencer licked his lips, and he noticed a little too late that he might have accidentally just flirted with Shawn Spencer.

“And you chewed on it. Again. Even after I specifically told you not to do that last time.”
“It’s not my fault that your pens are just chewable, Lassie.” Shawn crossed his arms defensively.
“My pens aren’t chewable, you just have a screw loose in your head.”“Probably,” Shawn admitted easily. He knew that. “But I need writing utensils, and you have more than enough. Maybe you should consider not being greedy.”
“I’m not greedy, they’re–” Lassie sputtered, considering the entire argument to be ridiculous. “They’re my supplies. I don’t owe you anything, especially when you chew on everything I give you.”
Shawn giggled at the dirty joke that popped into his head at that comment, but pushed it down. It was maybe not the time to bring that up.

His mind races. The what, the ship cams? Did they record Stratt’s men dumping him comatose and still and scared in the ship, did they talk about what they’d done to him? No, that would make sense. Besides, the Hail Mary was in orbit around Erid, not impossible to get to, but not worth it for a nose around. Or – maybe he’d said something in his sleep, and Rocky was only just talking to him about it. That also makes no sense. Or maybe –
“You… saw.”
“Eridians see dream-memories sometimes.”
“That literally makes no sense,” blurts Ryland, and Rocky stamps his feet. The way he’d done back on the ship when something was painfully obvious and Ryland failed to get it. “Sorry. You’re gonna have to explain.”
“Eridians are linked to all Eridians. Erid is like – word need word – database. Database for all Eridians thought memories events. When Eridians sleep, they see other Eridian memories. Didn’t happen on ship because no tie to Erid. Didn’t happen on Mary because no tie to Erid. Rocky saw Grace's memories.”
