Summary
Bren has been relying on sex work to sustain himself since finishing his prison sentence incited by Cerberus. Essek has had his own run in with Cerberus, but luckily the Nein helped him before he could fall into the deep end.
Of course Essek heeds their advice to look for Bren for his fist time switching. If he's going to give up control to anyone, he has to trust them not only with his well-being, but with his proclivities.
It remains to be seen if Bren can rise to the occasion, and if Essek can maybe provide the same safety that the Nein offered him.

Summary
The Mighty Nein find themselves on yet another quest to better the world. But unbeknownst to them, they now have an audience. Family members, people they met somewhere in their travels, close friends, are finally getting to see just what this party is made of. Obviously none of them expect it. Nobody looks at the Mighty Nein and thinks them capable unless they've fought on the opposing side. That's no longer the case.
However, it's also true that no one really knows the extent of what they've been through either. Well, that is until the demon they're hunting begins playing back their memories. The worst of them, and they have to figure out a way to hold on to themselves as their loved ones watch on.

Caleb let out a breath he didn’t know he had been holding. “Well…looks like we found our next clue.”
But Essek didn’t seem to have heard him. He had leaned so close to the map that his nose nearly brushed the paper. “There’s something there, where the line ends.”
He squinted, eyes straining at the fine detailing of the map. “It just looks like a part of the mountain to me.”
Essek huffed. “I keep telling you that you need glasses,” he muttered impatiently.
“You’re cute when you’re cranky,” Caleb said, and maybe it was the ale that had made him brave, or that high of discovery, but for once he didn’t regret the words once they were out of his mouth.

In the wake of Trent’s trial, Caleb and Essek find themselves in a remote corner of Wildmount with each other, a book, and a map that tells of an ancient mage’s secrets.
As the mystery unravels, landing closer to home than either had realised at first, who knows — Fate has never been kind to Caleb, but maybe this possibility will work out.
