Summary
The first thing Jason realized was that he was cold. He could feel his bare skin pressed against cold metal. The second thing he realized was that his head felt like it had been hit by a bus. He carefully and slowly opened his eyes, which turned out to be a decently difficult task. His vision was blurry and swam for a few moments before they finally focused.
His darkvision allowed him to take in his surroundings. He was laying on the floor of a small metal cage, memories of cannibals and blood sacrifices flashed into his brain before he shook them away. He was naked besides his underwear (hurray for small victories), which explained why he was so cold.

Jason wakes up in the hands of strange man, and Clive is the only one around who can find him.
Takes place at the end of book one, but time line is kinda nebulous

That was too much. These were the final warning signs. He needed to get out. He forced his hands over his ears, digging his fingers into the soft flesh hard enough to reassure him they weren’t moving. In the same motion, he jumped out of his seat, stumbling over Belinda as he ran to the storage room at the end of the bus. He managed to find a quiet corner wedged between two large crates. It was dark, and cool, and the only sound he could hear was that of his own muttering. “Wait for Jason. Wait for Jason. Wait for Jason.”

Summary
During the Battle for Chicago, Harry Dresden is killed. His only regret was that he was leaving behind the one person who managed to get past his defenses. John Marcone had givme him all the reasons needed to survive. Dying meant he would be leaving him alone.
Harry did not expect to wake up. Much less wake up around a decade in the past to Morgan giving him CPR. Having to navigate the past with the wrench of soulmates, what kind of ridiculousness was this, makes his life difficult. Especially when the one person he'd come to trust breaks into his office just as Harry remembered him doing.
Everything in him wants to leave Chicago and just hide from everything. He fought all of this once. Why did he have to do it all again? He was tired and hurting. The thought of falling back into step at John's side is more comforting than anything else. It might make things better this time. Maybe he can stop people from dying. Maybe they can change everything.
For those he lost once and he would do his best not to lose again.

Summary
Nicodemus returns to Chicago to get rid of a book. He sees a half dead wizard fighting with a Wolfkin disease. A disease he know how to cure. He hadn't realized the wizard had half a leg in the living world and half in the spirit world. Beings like him weren't born often even amongst the Wolfkin. They were the ones who could travel easily between the realms and they were treasured and cared for. Especially given that they were all but extinct.
The fact the wizard was all alone and sick meant he didn't have a pack or clan. Pack didn't have to be wolf it was a bond forged through time. It spoke greatly of how strong Dresden's bonds with his "friends" were. He had no stong ties to anyone or anything. That made him vulnerable. Nicodemus uses his advantage.
