Because Lucy is sitting beside him, a huge excited grin on her beautiful face as she looks through the window, her hand occasionally coming to tap at his arm as she turns around to comment on things she sees after the plane takes off, and Tim knows it's only a matter of time before this new elephant in the room becomes a whole circus.
OR
After breaking up with Ashley, Tim is left with a non-refundable trip to Hawaii and ends up inviting Lucy to go with him instead.

“I have a feeling we’ll find a way to stay in touch.” The way he said touch—like he wanted her to feel the word on every inch of her skin—made her head spin.

Tim and Lucy make it through her last day as a rookie (and the first day after they almost kissed) and find plenty of ways to celebrate it.
