Droplets of sweat coat his upper back. His breath is shallow, flighty as he tries desperately to stop the constant drum that pounds at his chest. Michelle sleeps soundly next to him, and her hands are cradled protectively over the bulge of her stomach. Their daughter isn’t alive yet, but clearly, his girlfriend’s maternal instincts are sharp and ready for when she is.
Big, bold letters scream at him in his peripheral. He’s tried to smooth out the cardstock before, but he creased it too deeply for it to go back to the way it was.
“The 5-4-3-2-1 Grounding Technique for Anxiety,” the pamphlet innocently reads.
Bryan rolls his eyes and shoves it into the back of his drawer. Like that’s gonna fucking solve anything. Fuck you. Anywhere he goes, every sense of his body is permeated by that night anyways.
And it’s never going to leave him, no matter what that bullshit pamphlet says.

“Bryan Hodukavich. I’m a medical courier. I carry around organs for lovely, innocent people that deserve help. They didn’t tell me jack about a super infection!”
Bryan was having a terrible, no good, very bad day. This is fixed by the interference of one TerraSave member (Claire) and one DSO agent (Leon). Bryan then wakes up in a hospital, and has to deal with the aftermath of surviving an outbreak of this severity. On the bright side, he'll be moving in near fellow survivors.
