Summary
“It’s a delicious hypocrisy,” Cyrion chuckled. "Our noble Corsair cousins, loyal to Terra until so very recently, defenders of humanity… a humanity chemically lobotomised, reduced to mindless breeding stock. The Eighth Legion may despise your weak, pathetic humanity, but at least we didn’t invent a drug like that.”

"You're in a bad mood. I'm in a bad mood. He's stuck us with this garbage task we both know he could've probably tasked servitors for," she said, circling behind him. He finally reacted to her proximity, turning on his heel to scowl at her. "What do you say we take a load off?"
For all he gave off the impression of having never so much as touched himself to get to sleep in however many millennia he'd been alive, he obviously didn't miss her meaning. His mouth flattened out into a thin line. "I have no interest in your debauchery."

The Nails snap in protest at being pinned and fighting back is automatic. He slams his head forward, and the impact rings through both of their skulls. Argel Tal staggers back, eyes flashing.
“What is wrong with you?” Khârn demands. “What was that?”
“I don’t— we— it…” Argel Tal trails off into a low, garbled hiss, looking frustrated. “We’re… hungry?”
“Hungry?” Khârn echoes, at a momentary loss. And then— “We?”

Summary
Deep in the darkness, he catches the faint glint of a polished golden Aquila on the commissar’s hat. Kill him—cut off the head, and the battle is already won. They don’t know how to fight without orders. They don’t feel the rhythm of eternal war. Their corpse-god won’t save them.
He inhales deeply, his lungs expanding, the dull ache in his side rippling through his body. Pain sharpens him. Pain connects him to the Truth. It is a necessity.
“Architect of Fate, let luck be in my favor,” he whispers.

“My champion,” the Dark Apostle spoke, his voice low and resonant, “did you summon me here to partake in the ritual of cleansing?”
Uralon’s steps were unhurried as he approached, the sound of bare feet against the polished floor sharp in the still air. He stood at the pool’s edge, his presence enveloping Marcus entirely, as though the air itself bent to accommodate him.

One day, if they survive, they will wear battleplate and see the world through preysight. Tactical data will stream across their retinal displays, automatic targeting sights picking out the next warm body fated to die.
Tonight, they hunt as their ancestors did, their naked eyes wide in the dark. They’re barely human, both more and less, apotheosis turning them, scalpel-cut by scalpel-cut, into demigods and into monsters.

Summary
Something is haunting the galleries of Trazyn the Infinite. It starts with a single medal disappearing and then reappearing out of place. Soon time itself is starting to crumble around the galleries, and unfortunately enough Trazyn knows exactly who to ask for help; Orikan the Diviner, the last Seer of the Necrontyr.
Though Trazyn's galleries give him a headache even on the best of days, Orikan agrees to help; partially out of curiosity, partially because if something were to destroy the galleries, he'd definitely want to have the first row seat.
Becoming trapped outside time inside the galleries is not the kind of thing that would mend the fraught relationship between the two ancient scholars. Unfortunately that is exactly what happens.

Horus had cupped Sanguinius' chin in his hand -- in his talon. "You have more choices than our father would ever have given, brother. The Blood God has a place for you and always will. If you wish to bow to no one god, you may burn your armor black and join with my sons in the Black Legion."
Horus' Justaerin guard resolved into focus around him, black armor embellished with horns and spikes and blasphemous symbols that hurt Sanguinius to look at.
"Or," Horus continued, and the Legionaries vanished into the mists of warp space as Horus leaned close into him. "You can stay here, with me, and be my treasured pet." Horus' talon scratched Sanguinius' head gently, as though he were a dog, and he placed a soft kiss on his brother's forehead.

Summary
A few missing scenes from Horus Rising. Specifically, what happens right after Abaddon and Horus have a screaming fight about whether to attack the Interrex, and Horus says this to Tarik Torgaddon:
‘Go after him, please. Calm him down. Tell him if he craves my forgiveness in an hour or two, I might soften enough to hear him, but he’d better be on his knees when he does it, and his voice had better not rise above a whisper.’
