To help ART with its trauma and depression, Murderbot offers it access to its systems. Having organic components helps tremendously, and in exchange, Murderbot gets more access to the ship's systems. They ultimately formalize this and treat their various bodies as relatively interchangeable. Also Murderbot gets a cool drone body that it customizes to its preferences.
