"I have not ordered you in too long, hm?" Shane was prickly, prideful; he had spent long years fighting against his own need to submit, and for whatever reason, he had trusted Ilya with that gift. He was still uncomfortable submitting in public - not for him, kneeling at Ilya's side or responding to others only at Ilya's invitation - and Ilya accepted it.
It only made the moments when Shane relaxed his guard, when he gave himself over entirely to Ilya, so much sweeter.
