Summary
What a stupid disease, Damian lamented, moving past denial of his circumstances and straight into resentment. The cure was equally stupid.
There were a few options to rid oneself of hanahaki, the first and simplest being that the sufferer could overcome their romantic feelings. Otherwise, they could make an unambiguous declaration of love, and if the recipient accepted, the sufferer would be healed. The latter choice was high-risk, it specifically required the sufferer to confess their feelings at the cost of the disease worsening should their love not be returned.
The third option was only a cure insofar as amputation is a cure for a broken finger, not an option anyone with any sense would dwell upon.
