When no immediate answer came, he turned to look at Charles, his eyes ever so slightly alarmed. "You know that, right?"
Charles smiled and his face hurt with the effort it took.

It was the only time he ever lied to Erik.

Erik raids Schmidt's compound looking for his sister. What he finds instead is a beaten -but not broken- telepath. On the run from the government and their enemies, the two men must find peace with each other in order to protect the three children his sister left behind.

An involuntary reaction upon seeing the face of his former friend.
Charles doesn't react, doesn't say a word. Erik had known Charles would be waiting for him when he got here; the man may not be as paranoid as Erik, but he would be a fool not to keep track of the comings and goings around the mansion.
Charles Xavier is a great many things, but he is not a fool.
