Summary
After a year away in New York, Ramona never expected to find herself back on the island she once called home.
She left believing that distance would give her the clarity she needed and that a year away from the island, her family, and especially Oona would help her figure out what she really wanted. Instead, the moment she sees Oona again, everything she thought she'd left behind comes rushing back.
Now, with Ramona back and old feelings resurfacing, neither of them knows what to do with everything they never said. Because a year was supposed to be enough time to move on. But sometimes, leaving someone behind doesn't mean you stop loving them.
It just means you have to find your way back to them.

Despite her better judgment, Oona can see the tension in Ramona's shoulders, the way it constricts her movements in that stupid fucking jacket. "That's fucking great. Real classy of you. I got to witness you fuck your way through practically all of Ontario but the second I get a girlfriend, you can't handle it."
Oona hums. "Slut-shaming me now? Nice one, 'Mona. New York has changed you." The nickname is not part of the plan. It slips out of Oona's mouth and it hangs in the air between the two of them; Ramona's eyes widen at its familiarity.
or: Ramona comes back to Sterling Point after a year and a half away. With a girlfriend. Neither Oona nor Ramona handles it very well.

Sure, her father still teaches her some things, like the fireball jutsu. But at the end of the day, he isn’t her fulltime mentor like how he is to Boruto.
Who can she turn to then, for guidance not just for her sharingan but for the path she plans to walk-- that she has to walk as an Uchiha, and maybe even Hokage. Sarada doesn't have an answer for that.
That is, until the Sixth Hokage--Kakashi Hatake--came along.
