Summary
“Is that,” the beast begins, disturbingly even keel, and while Jayce was expecting his jaw to unhinge like a serpent’s, nothing in his flat face, or the ones at its sides, moves, “an arcane powered crossbow hammer?”
Not even a sight so unseemly can stay Jayce’s tongue about his proudest invention. “That’s right.”
The creature tilts its head, owl-like. Its joints stutter with the motion, gears misaligned and ungreased snapping in and out of place. “I commend you for your ingenuity. It is… a remarkable contraption.”
“Thank you,” he says, then blinks. “Let me show you how it works,” and with a click, the hammer splits open as three bolts shoot out in the monster’s direction.

Summary
Viktor shifts, and the room spins. Oh, he should not have taken those meds on an empty stomach. He needs food. There’s nothing in the house but macaroni and cheese. There’s no way he could find even a pot in this state.
Viktor swallows.
He could ask Jayce.
The thought is incredibly alarming. Jayce is no doubt asleep. He would think rather poorly of his roommate knocking on his door asking him to make macaroni and cheese. Not to mention Viktor's all encompassing desire for Jayce to be with him at all times. Viktor would rather keel over.
He takes a careful step and the world spins again. He realizes he has forgotten to grab his cane.
Okay. Maybe this constitutes an emergency.
…
Viktor, regrettably, asks Jayce to make him mac and cheese.

Summary
The Arcane has shown Viktor the path forward, now that there are no questions left to answer, and nothing remains.
He can see it spun out in front of him, a thousand, million different possibilities, small choices tweaked until he finds the right one. The one that clearly meant to be.
This time, however, Viktor chooses a different path, and turns from the Arcane back to the only one who has ever truly mattered, who kneels at his feet in supplication.
He Who Remains.

They land in a field of flowers.
There is a version of the Herald who knows this place. Who has walked a thousand iterations of this field, in a thousand worlds and a thousand lifetimes.
This Herald, the Herald of the right-here-and-now, knows only that he has found an unexpectedly soft landing.

Summary
Viktor stalked closer, eyes scanning over the unnamed human. A man, he soon realized, judging by his muscular frame. He was dressed in what used to be a white coat, now tarnished with dirt, sewage, and… blood. The man shifted slightly where he lay, the emblem on his shoulder glinting briefly in the faint light from above, only for a second.
Wait... That was--
The Talis emblem.
“Jayce?”
Throwing all caution to the wind, Viktor immediately dropped to his knees before Jayce, hands hovering over the man’s wounded form. To his surprise, Jayce flinched.
“You’re not real.”
OR:
Viktor begins having recurring nightmares of some ravine and tries to make sense of it, especially when Jayce suddenly appears at the center of it all.
