Summary
Virgil was used to being a social pariah his whole life. And he told himself he was okay with it, for his greater purpose to help his sacred community. That was how is was for the firstborn children of his family...though all of them were destined for sacrifice eventually.
Call it tradition or having enough bad luck being born a person scheduled to die. It would almost feel noble and necessary and selfless...despite how he was treated by those he was apparently saving. But Virgil made himself accept it, because he knew no other choice.
His only two friends would like a word about that.

Now if only the twins would stop bugging him about confirming his and Virgil's relationship status....

He doesn’t expect, however, how quickly Remus, a man who’s spent his entire life running, will bond with Virgil and fit in with them. He doesn’t expect how much he wants Remus to stay.
Or: Patton finds a trash man in an alleyway and Virgil asks if they can keep him. Also they’re living in a monster society. Also they fall in love.

Based on a tumblr writing prompt:
“Other princesses have Fairy Godmothers. You have a Fairy Godfather. He doesn’t exactly grant wishes in the usual way, but the Fairy Mob always has your back.”Patton has never had a happy life, being an abused slave to his own parents, but it's the only life he's ever known. So when he unknowingly gives his name to multiple fairies, essentially giving away his life, Patton doesn't know what to do. Luckily, their head Fairy Roman has claimed Patton as his godson. And while the Fairies have his name, they also have his back.
