Summary
The first time they meet on the tarmac isn’t exactly their first time. The voice is what does it—low and flat, moving through him like a frequency he’d forgotten he was tuned to. It doesn’t land all at once. It lands in pieces, the way bad news does, or good news you’re not ready for. By the time the face resolves into the skull and the insignia resolves into Ghost, Soap already knows. Private MacTavish had his one night with a young Sergeant Riley and told himself it meant nothing, and he almost believed it, for ten years he almost believed it.

Summary
There are invaders in the north.
They are more than an uprising and stronger than simple peasants, but John MacTavish will not allow them the land of his clan. Yet ravaged by wounds, death, and under mounting scrutiny for his role in leadership, the gods have not woven him an easy fate.
Ghost is running from the ghosts of his past. Funny, if he had mood to fucking laugh. But there's no time for laughing when the world keeps shrinking and his escape into the barren north turns out to be everything but barren.
Standing by John's side is his closest friend, brother in all but blood, while his father leads as an inspiration to the clan. But in times of hardship, familial ties grow most strained of all. And in the midst of a swelling war, a young lad is simply trying to find his place in the world.
