Summary
When Aaron Hotchner and Spencer Reid are paired for their first undercover operation together, it is quite the unusual one: a wrongfully convicted prisoner is released just as people in his neighborhood begin turning up dead.
Although their experience tells them there's nothing mysterious about the killer's identity, a series of unsettling details refuses to fit the otherwise perfect puzzle. As they work to piece everything together, the two slowly realize that the hardest truths they'll have to face have nothing to do with the case.

Spencer’s entirely sure that the universe has it out for him. He doesn’t believe in any deity or fate or anything but science but that doesn’t mean all those things haven’t bonded together to test him. Maybe it’s divine punishment of some sort for not believing in any of them in any way, shape or form. One thing Spencer knows for sure: whatever might be out there is currently laughing at him so hard, they must be getting a tummy ache.
Or: the team sorta needs to rethink their careers because how did they get the number of unsubs wrong TWICE and Spencer has been in love with Aaron Hotchner forever. Aaron might just be catching up.

Summary
