Summary
Harry Potter was supposed to have died three times in his life.
The first was at fourteen months old, when he was struck by a curse meant to erase him from the world by an insane wizard, hungry for power he didn't have the right to have. And he didn't die.
The second was at seventeen, when he walked willingly into Death’s arms and came back changed. But he didn't die.
The third time was not so poetic.
The third time, Harry Potter pressed his own wand to his temple and whispered the words.
And Death refused him.
Again.

He falls into a daze, idly watching his shell shift colour every time he turns it, from blue to pink to green, and shifts slightly.
Hum.
He pauses, staring but not seeing. His head frills twitch. Had he imagined a sound?
Hum.
It’s a deep, echoing vibration. The pitch is unlike anything he’s heard.
Should he answer it? He can’t even discern its intent. But he's so curious.Or: Mermaid!Harry finally escapes humans and is free to roam the ocean. He sets to search for a forever pod, hoping to find a place to belong and keep it. However, life doesn't always go as planned, and he ends up encountering a creature he knows he should avoid.

Summary
There's a shell of numbness around him, an invisible boundary. Colors, sounds, feelings muted, muffled, dulled to a distant ache. He felt indifferent to his own presence, he felt indifferent about any presence.
No scrounging for news, or pouring over letters. He could find the motivation to if he wished and he really doesn't. Emptiness had planted itself within his chest for the time being, and there it would reside until the monotony of Privet Drive gives way to whatever awaits him back at Hogwarts. Hopefully. Or it may even remain, a constant companion.
