Summary
Rebecca wakes more relaxed than she has in an age. Every single muscle in her body is practically boneless, slack with an ease she hasn’t felt in years. To her half-awake brain, it’s as though she is swaddled in a soft blanket of comfort and security, so blissfully, mindlessly happy that she feels as though every single outlying stress from her day-to-day life has simply melted and trickled away.
The gentle pulse of that sheer, raw relief has her stretching her legs down toward the end of the mattress, arms reaching up and back, her spine curling, catlike, in a luxurious, lazy arch. The tranquility of it is nearly enough to make her weep. Such a gentle, serene awakening. Somehow, instinctually, she knows she is safe, that she is trusted. That she trusts in return. She knows she has nothing to fear with Ted, and that alone is a first for her.
She has never trusted anyone so openly, so completely, as she does him.
