    Summary

There were several changes happening in Gustave's otherwise quiet life in Lumière. Emma got married and moved away, his hardware store closed, and a new neighbor moved into the cottage next door. A neighbor who played the piano in the middle of the night and who might be too handsome for Gustave to handle. A neighbor who Gustave liked to imagine was playing a song for him.

Or Gustave has the biggest crush on his new neighbor, Verso, and can't believe that his upper class neighbor might also have eyes for him as well.

    Summary

Heated Rivalry meets Free! in this slow-burn swimming romance with messy feelings, competitive angst, and two idiots who take a decade to figure out they're in love.

They stared at each other. The anger had shifted into something else, something charged and dangerous that made Gustave's heart hammer for reasons that had nothing to do with the fight.
"I hate you," Gustave said. It came out wrong—not angry, almost desperate.
"I hate you too," Verso said, and his eyes were dark, intense, fixed on Gustave's face.

Gustave Augustin has spent his entire swimming career finishing second to Verso Dessendre. At 18, they finally meet at French Nationals. The rivalry is instant. The attraction is unwanted. The hookup is inevitable.

The nine-year toxic situationship? That's where it gets complicated.
Because they have rules: just physical, no feelings, no one can know. They follow them religiously—until they can't anymore.

Now they are forced to choose: keep hiding, or risk everything.

Grey's Anatomy, but make it Verstave

Dr. Gustave Virlogeux, nerd and proud owner of a prosthetic arm, has studied himself half to death to land an intern position at Hôpital Sainte-Lumière. The reason is mainly Dr. Verso Dessendre's prosthetics research. That the man is not only a brilliant ortho fellow, but also unbelievably attractive, is a mere coincidence.

Dr. Verso Dessendre is a prodigy, a charmer, and so, so tired of pretending to be something he isn't. He takes one look at the flustered intern with the round glasses and thinks: Glasses is trouble. He's right. He's also not remotely prepared for what Gustave becomes once he's set his mind on proving, with increasing enthusiasm and creativity, that he is serious about him.

A story about gay awakenings (mistaken as gay panics), featuring: one elevator kiss that goes wrong, one ambulance confession that goes right, one ultrasound room that will never be the same, and a conference podium where the mask comes off for good.

Or: the cute nerdy intern practiced on bananas, weaponized an ultrasound probe, and found absolutely novel purposes for a surgical-grade prosthetic. The hot ortho fellow never stood a chance.

When Gustave agrees to keep an eye on Verso, it is only to give Maelle some peace of mind. He plans to offer the brooding man a project to distract him from his miserable existence and, perhaps, get to know the person his sister now calls “brother.”

Developing feelings for him was definitely never part of the plan. But then again, when has Gustave’s life ever followed any plans?

*Companion fic to The Long Track Home, told from Gustave’s perspective. Can be read on its own.*

    Summary

Throughout his reign over "the Monolith"—the nickname employees gave the tower housing Dessendre Inc.'s offices—Renoir Dessendre wore down and shattered his staff's morale. Only three remain on the 33rd floor: Sciel, Lune, and Gustave.

It has been two weeks since Renoir retired, handing the CEO role over to his son, Verso—and, unfortunately, the apple does not fall far from the tree. Verso proved to be just as ruthless as his father, driving his employees to the brink of burnout.

At his breaking point and utterly exhausted, Gustave faced a dilemma: give up—resign and return home to his adopted daughter—or dissect the subject of Verso Dessendre until he uncovered some truly dark secrets.
