Summary
Leo waited. His leg was growing painfully numb under the ice. He wanted to rip the pack off and heave it across the room where it could shatter on the floor. Instead, he forced himself to stay quiet as he watched everyone disperse on their assignments, feeling his heartbeat inexplicably rise in his chest until he finally couldn’t stand it anymore.
“And me?” Leo looked to Splinter. “I know portaling is kinda off the table right now, but, you know, plans are still kinda my thing. Just give me a minute—an hour max—and I know I can come up with a place for us to stay...” Leo’s voice faded as Splinter placed a warm pink hand on top of his own, making it lay still.
“Do not worry, my baby blue.” He said, giving the back of his hand a pat, a soft smile reaching his furry face. “I know exactly where we will go.”

Leo knew losing an arm would be a hard change. He just didn’t know exactly how many changes he'd have to deal with. Turns out that narrowly avoiding the Krang apocalypse doesn't mean everything goes back to normal.
(Or my traumatized turtle boys spend some time recovering in the countryside because the author was listening to Noah Kahan’s Stick Season album A LOT)

“Oh boy,” Leo says, which just about sums it up. For a moment he seems a bit lost for words, rather unlike him. “You’re mad about the car thing?”
“I don’t care about the stupid car,” Donnie snaps. That’s not really true, and his brother must know it, but he doesn’t say anything. “I hate that he lied to me like that.”
Dad asked to spend time with him and Mikey both, but it was Donnie’s tank, and it made him feel six years old all over again. He didn’t realize how desperate he’d gotten for this kind of attention until he got a mouthful of it.

“Here!” The tanuki runs ahead of him, weaving through the rows of tables and chairs. It’s a lovely room, with rows of bookcases lining the walls, each of them rich with an abundance of knowledge, yet Donnie is yet to see the so-called victim anywhere.
The yokai stops short, looking perplexed as he glances hard at the ground as if he were simply awaiting something to somehow sprout from underneath it.
“Um. There was supposed to be a, uh, a body here…” the yokai explains sheepishly. He looks towards Donnie rather apologetically. “Hm. This… this wasn’t supposed to happen.”
Donnie frowns, making the tanuki cower just slightly. “And I suppose that whole knocking me on my ass earlier wasn’t exactly in the itinerary either?”
The tanuki purses his lips together, little button nose screwing up slightly. “No, mister Donatello. It, er, wasn’t.”
“Something feels weird,” Donnie says. “I don’t like it.”
