Summary
All the pressure and weight abruptly disappears as Shiro scurries backwards, utterly terrified. Lance has never seen him so scared before. Lance follows him without hesitation, kneeling between his sprawled legs, touching his ashen face and his hair and his shoulders and his chest. Making Shiro feel his presence, drowning his senses with it.
“You’re okay, Shiro. I’m here,” Lance says, voice soft and reassuring. “You’re okay.”

'So, after we got back from the beach yesterday I thought I’d look into Galra behaviour and look.' Hunk squinted at the screen, skimming over the words. He gasped, causing Pidge to smirk.
'Yep.' She nodded excitedly, 'doesn't matter what planet they're on, or what situation they're in. Galra have always used presenting pebbles as a courtship display!'In which Keith returns to the castle after staying with the Blade of Marmora and has picked up some interesting new habits.

Keith was pretty sure his heart was going to explode out of his chest and if he didn’t do something about it, things were going to get bloodier than they already were.
Keith accidentally tells Lance his feelings on April Fool's Day, and Lance really knows how to take a joke.

Summary
Coran always knew about Keith and Lance. Always. He was never fooled by their rivalry, and noticed the second Lance realised he had feelings for Keith (Keith, bless his soul, took much longer to realise, although to his credit he did act on those feelings immediately. His impulsivity reminded Keith so heavily of Alfor that he felt as if the man was in the room. He supposes the fiery nature of the Red Paladin is a permanent feature, lion change or no). He watched the two of them fall in love, and slowly build their relationship, as oblivious as Keith may have been to it. He’s truly grateful to have witnessed such a devoted and endless bond.

Summary
Keith, like all other nights in the months before, wakes up with his arm outstretched. His fingers are reaching for nothingness in the small room he’s rented on the swap moon, and inside his chest is the hopeful feeling soaring through, quickly being replaced with loss and yearning.
“I miss you.” Keith says to the ceiling as his hand falls. He doesn’t often allow himself that, not wanting it to be heard by his fellow Blade members or not wanting to indulge the simple words lest they break down as he says them. He feels his gloved hands curl in the ratty bedsheet, tightening and tightening around nothing. There’s more at his lips, his mind churning and his chest heaving, but nothing else comes out. He has work to do.

Lance knows something’s wrong.
Keith turns his gaze on him, dark eyes latching onto him like an anchor.
Normally this is when Lance can think of something stupid to say to make Keith smile. Bonus points if he can get a laugh. Usually it isn’t hard — smiles come easy when it’s them. But something is wrong, and Lance knows that Keith’s smile will be the farthest thing from him if he says it.

Summary
Lance is— sweet and kind and funny and brilliant and— and not this cold eyed, sharp tongued, glowing-skinned stranger in front of him.
Keith continues to stand there, uprooted, flailing for any strand of reason that can reconcile the beautiful person he knows with the very thing he hates. It doesn’t help that Lance seems to have no trouble, fixing him with a disdainful sneer and arched brow.
Stars and moon, how many times has Keith imagined kissing the arch of that brow? How many times has he imagined kissing the slender column of that neck? Biting and claiming, marking the perfect skin as his, forever. Never knowing the magic that simmered just under the surface.
Never knowing that wonderful, perfect Lance was his worst enemy.
Werewolves and witches have been mortal enemies for ages. And Keith has hated witches as much as — no, more than — any of his fellow werewolves.
Witches are dangerous, dirty, evil. So how can it be that the boy he's in love with is one of them?

Summary
Lance owns a witch themed cat cafe that rescues black cats. Each one has a unique collar and color coded name to help tell them apart. He's not supposed to play favorites, but he's already adopted his favorite, Red, as his own. Cold and distant to everyone, Red is extremely affectionate to Lance. Needy. Clingy. Protective. But Lance doesn't mind. He makes Lance's home a little less lonely. He's a little weird, but aren't all cats? He loves his baby boy, and he's eternally grateful for the day that little black fluff ball crossed his path.
Lance doesn't think twice about Red's odd quirks. That is, until he wakes up with a naked stranger in his bed.
And hey! Turns out Red is actually a witch named Keith who's been cursed to be a cat for twenty years. A really hot witch who's still very affectionate towards Lance.

"Um, Keith?" Lance questioned softly, moving his hand in front of his friend's face as Keith kept looking downward to Lance's midsection. "Buddy?"
"Did you lose weight?" Keith drawled out, Lance finally realizing that Keith wasn't just staring down at his shirt, but glaring. As if Lance's lack of body mass offended him.
And to be honest, Lance barely noticed these days. Yes, he knows that whenever he would look in the mirror before or after a shower, he could tell how much smaller he's gotten. How much thinner his body has become due to all the meals he has missed, all the nightmares he would have. The ones he would force himself awake for, rushing to the small bathroom connected to his room and retch his last meal right down the toilet.
But he couldn't let Keith know that.

On a planet Voltron had recently allied with, Keith notices an alien taking special interest in Lance. The way he watches Lance is rubbing Keith the wrong way, but no one else seems to notice. He may not have done anything wrong, but Keith feels like it's only a matter of time before Lance's luck runs out. And it's definitely not because Keith's jealous.

“That’s a wedding ring, isn’t it?” Pidge realizes somewhere behind Keith once Lance is safely placed in the pod.
“Mm,” Keith responds without words. The ring is cold against his palm. It’ll be well over a day until Keith can hear Lance’s voice again. But he’ll be healed and whole, and if he needed to take weeks for the same outcome, Keith would gladly wait.
“When the hell did Lance get married—who the hell did he marry?”
“Pidge,” Hunk stops their ramblings and Keith has never been more grateful. “I think that one is obvious.”
(Or Keith and Lance have been secretly married for months and this is how the team finds out)

“Are you serious?” Keith says quietly. “Lance, he — he talks about me?”
“Oh,” Hunk says. There’s no mistaking the smug mischief in his tone. “Oh ho ho ho.”
“Nevermind,” Keith says quickly. “I don’t — I’m just asking. About — the team. Uh, how’s Pidge?”
“Not on your life are you escaping this, loverboy,” Hunk taunts. He cackles. “Spending a lot of time wondering if you cross Lance’s mind, hm?”
“No. No, Hunk, it’s not like that —”
“Keith and La-ance, sittin’ in a tree, K-I-S-S-I-N —”
“Finish that dumbass rhyme and you’re a dead man, Hunk,” Keith threatens.

“What?” Lance snaps one day, frustrated and embarrassed and tired of being the only one that Keith looks at so closely. “What are you even looking at? You’re always staring at me, man, like you’re trying to fuckin’ read my soul, or something. It’s weird.”
Lance feels bad as soon as he says it. It’s defensive and mean and he tenses, preparing for Keith’s upcoming scowl, the argument.
But it doesn’t come.
Instead Keith smiles. Not one of his quick ones, a barely-there quirk of the lips, but a real grin, wide enough to make his eyes squint and face brighten. The fondness bleeds from him; Lance couldn’t miss it if he was the densest person alive.
Slowly, like he’s given Lance time to back away, he reaches foreword and tucks Lance’s hair behind his ears, even though it’s too short for that and doesn’t do anything, even though it’s clearly all about the gesture, an excuse to touch Lance gently.

“Aw, man,” Hunk curses, as two distinct beeps sound on everyone’s watches. “They’re the worst! They’re always sparring now. I wish we could go back to when they hated each other.”
Coran glances down in interest at his watch, seeing a notification that both Lance and Keith have finished an hour of training.
He narrows his eyes. That’s strange. He’s almost certain Shiro is the only one in the training room right now, and he could have sworn that Lance told him that he and Keith were going to watch a film this afternoon.
He freezes as the implication finally hits him.
Oh, dear.
“I’m sure they’re both simply…eager,” Coran says, fighting back a smile.
“Ugh,” Pidge says, rolling her eyes. “Eagerly annoying. There’s no way I’m letting Lance beat me. I’m gonna go clean the kitchen. Hunk, you wanna help?”

“Is that a challenge?”
Keith smirks, a sharp, dangerous thing. He hears Lance’s words, hears the steel hidden in the softness of his tone, his voice promising trouble.
But the Garrison does not know their Red Paladin as well as the rest of Voltron.
They do not know Voltron at all.
All they see are the cadets that left Earth five years ago, children playing pretend heroes.
They are underestimating them.
That is their mistake.
Or alternatively, when doubt is cast on the Paladins” worth and capabilities to be the Paladins of Voltron, the team makes it their mission to prove them wrong. They are warriors, heroes and it is about time the world recognized them as such.
