“I’m sorry,” Nozomi says, and means it, even as her gut twists with concern all over again. Her hands curl and uncurl at her sides, and she forces them into her pockets so she won’t do something stupid and obnoxious, like say, open the door and barge in there. “I just… um, I just wanted to see how you were doing.”
There might be a sigh from the other side. Aotsuki is polite by nature, but when they’re alone like this, he can be a little impatient. “About as good as the last time you knocked. I’d probably recover faster if I was able to sleep without constant interruptions…”
“R-Right.” Nozomi winces, guilt knotting her throat. “I, I’m sorry, I’ll go somewhere else so you can—”
“Nozomi-san,” Aotsuki interrupts her, sounding somewhat… contrite. Nozomi must’ve come across especially pathetic in her reply just now. “...I’m sorry. I was being harsh. I haven’t been able to sleep regardless, you haven’t been disturbing me.”
Silence falls as Nozomi tries to compose herself.

Aotsuki falls ill. Nozomi struggles to tend to him in a way helps more than hinders.

Summary

Three years after Omega took to the sky, the world moves forward. When reports of small localized quakes get back to the WRO, Reeve fears the worst. Vincent knows better, but sees an opportunity—to finally put his own tomb to rest, and to distance himself from the world with which he can't keep pace and the friends continually holding themselves back in the hopes that he'll catch up.
He intended to keep the Shinra Manor's lower levels from collapsing alone, but Vincent nonetheless finds himself with visitors—and discovers that he may not be the only ghost haunting the old facility.
