“Trauma to the left wrist. Unknown time of injury.” Someone says. A paramedic? Sounds like a paramedic. Smells like one too. A little sweaty, which is understandable, and coffee breath that fans over your face like the breeze from an open window in a storm. That’s not forgivable. It reminds her of school. And therapy. And old men. Yuck.
“Three, two, one—“
She jolts as she’s lifted. Hard plastic is replaced by cheap cushioning and the scent of antiseptic detergent.
Beep. Beep. Beep. She’s tachycardic.
And really, she’s not sure who found her. How they did.

Summary
Trinity Santos had always been too much. She’d known that since she was old enough to have a conscious thought. It had been drilled into her, over and over again, not always with the exact words, of course. Trinity Santos had also never been enough. She’d known that since long before she had the vocabulary to put it into words. Her girlfriends realizing those things was inevitable, and she should have seen it coming. She would do anything to keep them, even if it ruined her.
