For a moment Viktor could only stare at the last place he had seen his partner before he pulled his gaze back towards his desk. He groaned to himself, running a hand down his face before pinching the bridge of his nose. He took a deep breath and forced his attention to return to the work in front of him.
Or at least… he tried to.
The problem was far from being the direction of Jayce’s warm touch, of his fleeting kisses during their work hours, of the sunny smile that pulled at his chest even more with the slight gap between his teeth and of the easy stream of affection that had carved its way into his life without him really noticing until it was too late not to. The problem wasn’t that he had Jayce’s affections, rather the problem was he wanted more.
OR: All thanks to a faulty apartment heater, Viktor somehow finds himself in a budding relationship with his longtime crush by the end of the winter holidays. And honestly? Everything is perfect, better than he could have ever imagined. Still, he can’t shake the feeling that some part of him wants more… and he has no idea how to ask for it.

Summary
Jayce Talis is the friendliest guy on campus. Ask anyone. He’s the starting lineman with the easy grin, the one who remembers your name, the one who takes such good care of that frail genius roommate of his — walks him to class, keeps him fed, gives him the hoodie right off his back.
Nobody asks why Jayce arrives everywhere Viktor is two minutes early. Nobody’s read the notebook.
Viktor thinks he’s the kindest person he’s ever met. Viktor is not entirely wrong. That’s the problem.

Just when he's about to drop out, he meets Viktor, a PhD candidate who reignites his passion for science and, well, life. However, his passions don't stop there.
But as much as Jayce tries to get closer to Viktor, the more Viktor pulls away. Jayce doesn't realize why until Viktor collapses in the lab.
When he discovers Viktor's illness, his passion for biotech flares—not out of excitement, but out of necessity. Because without further medical research, Viktor's life is on the line.
It's a race against death, and Jayce is determined to win, especially as their relationship deepens in more ways than one.
