    Summary

Lyonel had been good to him, Dunk knew. There were men who said one thing in their cups and another in the sober light of day, but Lyonel was always friendly. He welcomed Dunk (and Egg) in his pavilion by day and night. After knowing him for barely an hour, he insisted Dunk call him by his name, because there was no need for sers and my lords among friends.

Were they still friends? Dunk hoped so. Such hopes did not stop his thoughts from turning crude. When he wasn't worrying about whether he would be welcome, he was imagining Lyonel seducing sellswords and sailors. There's always been talk about him. Had Lyonel danced with those men, too? Or was that only a game he played? Teasing and hinting but never trespassing. Perhaps he never intended anything with Dunk, or only hoped and offered by implication. Dunk didn't know what he preferred.

He worried and dreamed, until he caught his first glimpse of Storm's End.

Dunk and Egg talk about marriage, visit old friends, and consider sending a letter to Summerhall.

    Summary

A tourney stand looms up ahead out of the mist, a knight on a black stallion rides ahead of her and suddenly she knows, with a deep, clear certainty what her purpose is, here. She has read of this field, this day. She knows the ill luck that followed it, the hope of a fractured realm extinguished with a mace. She urges Valour on, draws abreast with the knight and he turns to her. A black shield, a red dragon. He raises his visor. “You ride for the Hedge Knight?” His voice echoes strangely in the helmet. He is more handsome than she expected. She nods. “I would know your name, ser.”

“I am a true knight, your Grace.” she says, and passes the Prince, knowing she must answer to him at some point, or else disappear, as fast as she is able.

Ser Brienne of Tarth, Commander of the Kingsguard, is sent by her King on a ride one misty morning in full tourney armour. Sent ninety years back, to the point at which some say it all went wrong, she has a rare and precious chance to make things right. Even if it costs her her foolish heart.

‘If you value me, you will send the boy here.’

It was madness to send such a missive to his Serenity. That was the only excuse for such an ultimatum. Arbelan who knew his response to such matters so well after their years of marriage.

Her decades of relegation. Not for lack of love, but for lack of children.

    Summary

“I’m not going to go easy on you, you know,” Kip says, standing and slipping his tshirt over his head.

Scott’s brain glitches at the sight of Kip’s bare torso, muscled and glistening with post-workout sweat.

He shakes it off. “Gimme your worst, Grady.”

Or: Under his smoothie-boy demeanour, Kip is stronger than he looks. Scott likes it.
