Summary

Alastor had the power, the time, the ability. Had the pawns at the tips of his fingers, ready to twist and contort at a simple bend of a knuckle. Had the experience and the reputation to back it up. He was a free man – he could finally do quite nearly anything there was to do in this damned existence he found himself in.
And yet, despite it all, the notion of it had him feeling nothing.
It was an uncomfortable realization that there had in fact been something that he’d managed to loose along the way. The sinking feeling of a zeal depleted and lacking. Instead, the only way the progress of time made him feel was a bored, aching yearning for simpler times - for something long past.

Summary

Early in the morning, Alastor wakes up somewhere he didn’t fall asleep, freed from his restraints. Left alone with breakfast, a long letter from Vox and the offer of a deal, he takes some time to reflect on his current state.
