    "I’m only two minutes late!” Izuku protested. Had he missed the start of an important test? None of the national, standardized tests were supposed to happen this month and even being two minutes late to one of those wouldn’t elicit this sort of reaction. They were discussing their career interest forms today, but that was it. Nothing time-critical was supposed to be happening.

    “Midoriya, you were reported missing a week ago. No one has seen you for eight days. The police have been combing the city for you.”

    "I’m sorry. What?”

    Midoriya Izuku went missing for a week and turned up in a back alleyway with skills he's never even heard of and no memory of how he came by them. He resigns himself to never learning the truth of what happened to him, but he shouldn't waste this chance should he? He could become a hero with reflexes like these.

    complete, 92ch, I don't... I don't even know how to begin to summarize this. it feels so.. in-line, with canon, the backstory parts, but I know it's OCs and yet... I love this story, its war, and it's harsh, and the characters are both themselves and unrecognizable, but I loved every gut-turning moment of it

    Izuku learned at a very young age that love is conditional. Love is a reward for following the rules, love is reserved for those who are worthy of it, for those who are loveable.
    Izuku was not loveable, well at least not according to anyone he'd ever met.
    All he ever wanted to do was help people, to be someone worthy of loving but at 12 years old he's left with nothing and no one. Living on the streets he has to make his own way in life and maybe help some of the people in this community he's found himself in.
    Follow his journey as Izuku skirts the line of the law saving people and maybe even finding someone who thinks he's worth loving.

    Toshinori reaches a hand, the one that is shattered beyond repair and drenched in blood. He gives a smile to the boy. He can feel blood smeared across his teeth. He can't imagine his smile is any reassurance, but Toshinori is dying and desperate. A piss-poor smile is all he can give.

    A piss-poor smile, and an earth-shattering quirk.

    'I have a healing quirk,' he lies, begging the boy with his eyes. Please, say yes. Please accept my DNA. 'It only works on others. Let me h-help you? I won't last.' Toshinori's words come more and more haltingly. He can feel cold darkness encroaching on his limbs already. He tilts his hand, just slightly, just enough to renew his offer to the boy. 'At-At least… Not long enough… For help to arrive in time.'

    Yagi Toshinori gets caught in a building collapse in his powered-down form. As he lays dying and without a successor, he offers his quirk to a young boy who is trapped alongside him.

    All Might never makes it out of the building. But Midoriya Izuku does.

    With no parent and a new limb-breaking quirk, he becomes a ward of UA.

    unfinished, 33ch, heavy and light in equal measure, well-written, with good characterization, interesting world building, and just enough trade off between blunt thought and prose, yagi and inko for in a building collapse, leaving deku with ofa, and in UA custody before middle school ends, this makes things so very different, the pov changes make the story very full, and the way plot points are kept altered or discarded is so very satisfying
