Batman investigates a Gotham docks warehouse following the disappearance of three dock workers, only to discover the case has evolved into something mystical linked to John Constantine. Tracking mysterious, fresh symbols spiraling outward from an exposed patch of earth marked by dried blood and candle stubs, he drops silently to the ground floor. At the very center of the spiral, Batman discovers a small, motionless young girl curled into a ball.

Summary
"They mocked me, called me Anne the Miserable, and oh how I was miserable"
The Pevensies were home merely a year before they got transported back to Narnia: a place they held dear to them, and helped create a safe, peaceful environment. They find it in ruins, an enemy kingdom's Prince rallying an army to take his throne and bring back Narnia.
Of course, they help him, and of course, with Anne's luck, she finds the Prince rather charming - he finds her quite charming too.
Sequel to 'The Daughter'.

Anne Pevensie was constantly overshadowed by her siblings. She was shy and smart, but not as smart as Susan, and not as defiant as Edmund. She was the oldest daughter, a burden she bore every day.
When Lucy brings her and her family through a wardrobe and into Narnia, Anne has hope that maybe this magical world will fill what she was missing.
It doesn't. It gives her the short straw, just as England had.
