Summary
Charlie Swan’s life had a routine. It was a little lonely, sure, since he and Renée had called it quits, but that was sixteen years ago. He woke up early, he worked, he helped people where he could. It was a good routine.
Until, that is, his routine was disrupted, not only by the bodies being found along Route 112, but by Dr. Carlisle Cullen, the new consulting physician on the case. Carlisle who, as it happened, also knew something about loneliness, having practiced it for well over three hundred years himself.

Summary
There are men turning up dead in the woods, and Chief of Police Charlie Swan has a job to do—figure out what, or who, left the poor bastards torn up as they are. Chief of Police Charlie Swan is too old for this mess. Too old and too sick of this shit to pretend Forks is just a sleepy old rural town anymore. Between the gruesome corpses and the quiet, unsettling doctor Cullen who shows up like a statue in pressed slacks, lying through his teeth, Charlie’s got more questions than answers—and no one seems too keen on giving him either.
Charlie’s trying not to notice how his breath catches when the doc gets too close. He’s also trying not to notice how the bodies keep piling up, unsolved. Neither effort is going particularly well.
And if one more person tells him it was a bear, he’s going to shoot something. Probably not a bear.

Summary
“From what I heard you’re not a good man,” Jace scoffs, taking a step to the side. “From what my arm remembers, you’re not a gentle man either.”
“A good man or a bad man,” Aemond mimicks him mockingly with a snort. “If you were wise,” he continues silently, closing in the distance between them, “you would have not come.”

Summary
Jacaerys and Aemond had never shared fondness for one another, which was putting it charitably. It mattered not. A match of this kind did not require affection. They needed only to share a bed on sufficient enough occasion to produce an heir or two.
