“You know what I’m thinking about?” JJ asked with no specific person in mind.
“Please don’t say Ilya’s thighs,” Hayden pleaded, pinching the bridge of his nose.
“First of all, ew, no,” he replied instantly. “Second of all, don’t call him Ilya, it’s weird.”
“It’s his name!” Hayden retorted, defensively. “We should get used to using it considering he and Shane are…you know.”
Sleeping together sounded crass, but dating seemed too romantic, too. Not that there hadn’t been some pretty romantic texts to sort through. He couldn’t really figure out what the word that felt best was, or if there even was one.

Basically I drop the Centaur's rookies into 2017 as a plot device for shenanigans and fixing Hollanov's relationship. Then I send them home and let the butterfly effect run rampant. -

"Hey, stop it. You're not gonna die," Shane protests, tossing his own gear forgetfully towards the wall. He can get replacements. It doesn't matter. Nothing else matters right now, except making sure Ilya wasn't violently bringing up the rest of his insides. Hopefully. "If you need something to focus on, then focus on me, okay?"
Or: Ilya gets horrifically nauseous and sick during the middle of their game. Shane struggles to make it back to the ambulance.

Summary
A mostly crackfic series that asks, what if Shane and Ilya were slightly out of character? Shane is bitchier, Ilya is manic and philosophical, Cliff Marleau and the Boston boys take turns babysitting their crashing-out captain, and Shane finally gets recognized as the pretty, funny, sassy player he is.
Nothing is too serious about this, it's a mix of show and book canon, and a healthy dose of fanon (himbo king Cliff). Ilya is allowed to catch feelings early, as a treat and Shane is allowed to let his inner mean girl out.
Please enjoy these silly boys and their silly relationships! Four works so far with more to come! How much more? I don't know! They keep doing silly things and my brain keeps writing it down.
