“Take care, kin-kur veh. You have not yet regained your strength.” The voice is deep and smooth, a faint accent wound through it that turns the vowels round and the glottal stops into sharp shards of breath.
Pure reflex, Jim rolls to the side, not realizing until he gets there that half the muscles in his body feel flayed raw, all the strength sapped out of him with a sudden headrush that makes the pain spike again.
Bare feet pad into his line of sight, pale green, scrupulously clean. There's a small gold ring decorating the second toe of the left foot.

A favorite hockey romance, between a closeted captain and a neighbor, with all original characters including a fantastic grannie and pets. Some mild crossover with another of her AO3 stories, but you don’t need to have read one before the other although it heightens the fun. Sweet, found family, fluff and some angst whhich is resolved.

"So, Sybok," Amanda asks him one day, while they're walking by the fountain. She jumps up to balance on the lip, her rucksack slung over one shoulder and her feet placed with comical care. Sybok watches closely to make sure she doesn't fall. "You speak pretty good Vulcan, I bet."
"You would be correct in your assessment of my fluency," Sybok replies in Vulcan. "May I ask to what purpose you would make this inquiry?"
She laughs, and wobbles a little. Sybok holds out a hand as if he could prevent her fall. "I inquire in order to begin a dialogue regarding my current academic focus," she replies. Sybok can detect no accent, and he wonders where she could have learned Vulcan -- there are only a few dozen of his people living on Earth, and none of them work at the University. "I have a theory regarding translation modules that I wish to explore further. And it occurred to me that you would be a perfect colleague."
