Summary
Gale returns to his former job at Harper Pharmaceuticals as head of IT and Cybersecurity, but being back in that office where he met his lost love proves more difficult than he anticipated. To make matters worse, there's a counterfeit drug out there ravaging the populace, and CEO Jaheira intends to track down the cartel behind it. And what better way to do that than working with that cartel's rival? Gale believes he is equal to the task.
When Tav walks in as his assigned contact for the mission, his heart nearly stops. Especially when he realizes she is not happy to see him.

Summary
After the fall of the Absolute, Gale and Tavrin Dekarios try to adjust to a new life of normalcy in Waterdeep. However, rumors of Tav's heritage as a Bhaalspawn set a mysterious and powerful force after her blood for unknown ends, and it wants her alive. Gale is determined to protect her, but with so many potential enemies from both the recent past and that which she has forgotten, this proves a monumental task.
When her past comes back to haunt her, that's just the beginning of their troubles...Because the threat of relapse is nipping at Tav's heels. And there's one body they never had the chance to destroy.

Lots of Forgotten Realms lore incorporated, but altered as needed to fill gaps, work around inconsistencies, or make for better storytelling.Durgetash is a past relationship, so those scenes are flashbacks starting in chapter 9.

Unfortunately, Clementine has problems of her own. Specifically, an unfinished contract, a talent for lying beautifully, and a growing suspicion that pretending to love Gale Dekarios might be far easier than surviving the moment she stops pretending.

The parchment is expensive. Tav runs her fingertips over the wax seal and hesitates; she knows what this is. She is not surprised that it is happening, she is, however, surprised at being included in some way. Perhaps, she allows herself, she had hoped it wouldn't be so soon. (She has already put to bed the part of herself that had hoped it would not happen at all.) Gale had, after all, been very clear - and devastatingly gentle - in his explanation.
