He rubbed his hands through his hair, his jaw hung open a few more degrees than normal; his feet shuffled out of any discernable rhythm. She couldn't deny that this excited her. Summary
Fear alters perception. Before we can determine whether paranormal phenomena are real, we first need to understand how the human brain behaves when it's afraid.
Fox Mulder is a psychology student who has become fascinated by how fear changes the way we think and what we believe we've seen. To explore that, he starts a YouTube channel called Project Fear, travelling around reportedly haunted locations with the Lone Gunmen to investigate the paranormal while also looking at the psychology behind it.
Dana Scully is a pre-med student who doesn't believe in ghosts, while her older sister Melissa absolutely does. When Melissa drags Dana to a frat party to meet the creator of her favorite YouTube channel, Dana expects one awkward evening and then to never see Fox Mulder again.
Instead, she somehow ends up joining them on overnight ghost hunts.
