They seemed to be observing the towel, claws tapping against the material with what he took as curiosity, pinching it between the appendage.
Was it Rocky? It’d make sense, the Eridian would certainly have something harsh to say about him leaving his stuff laying around. He always had some mean quip to insult his shoddy human memory.
He opened his mouth to defend himself before Rocky could say something snappy, when the figure then moved, stocky legs rising from beneath their carapace and lifting them to their full standing height.
They were tall. Too tall.
That wasn’t Rocky.

Court sounds mystified at the last part, almost reverent in the way he speaks, looking up at Grace like he's something to be beheld. He leans back in, and Grace yelps, slapping a hand over the Alpha’s mouth. Court looks up at Grace balefully, and for no reason at all, the image of a sad, wet cat appears in Grace’s mind. He lets his hand slide down to rest on the Alpha’s collarbone.
“What—what about Will—the Omega?
“What about him?” Court presses forward, boxing Grace in against the tree, brows knit close together as he stared down at the Beta. His tone is fervent and angry as he speaks. “He's nothing. I could—I would treat you better. I’d give you anything.”

The Hail Mary would only give it's crew their methods of execution after the mission had been completed and the Beetles sent to earth. A precaution. Meant to ensure they would die only after the mission was complete.
The Beetles left for Earth over a year ago. The ship's mission, as defined in it's programming, was completed. I had considering trying to reprogram it for considering the mission done after we had reached Erid, but the risks of breaking something was deemed too high.

In linguistics, a false friend is a word in a different language that sounds similar to a word in your own, but differs significantly in meaning. No word in any Eridian language could possibly be mistaken for English. But Erid absolutely has false friends.
In his right mind, Grace would easily identify the mistaken assumptions inhibiting his integration on Erid. They are:
1: A molecular biologist and a sapient rock can cobble together translation software that reflects the etymological nuance of an entire alien language.
2: Eridians are enough like humans to have an Area 51 and look forward to using it.Unfortunately, Grace hasn’t been in his right mind in years.
Or: a ‘Return to Erid’ story where Grace struggles to touch down alone.
